June 2024 Instagram Updates You Need to Know About

As a social media manager, staying ahead of the curve with the latest platform updates is crucial for maintaining an engaging and dynamic presence for our brands. Instagram, one of the most influential social media platforms, has recently rolled out some game-changing updates that can significantly enhance our strategies and workflows. Let's dive into these exciting new features and explore how we can leverage them to boost our social media game.

  1. Reel Editing After its Live

Users can now edit Reels even after they've gone live! No more deleting an entire Reel just because you spot an error. Instead, simply delete the Reel, and then on the same screen, select "Save to Drafts." This will remove the Reel from your feed and place it in your drafts folder. From there you can edit video clips, music, on-screen text, and even effects. The best part? All your edits are saved! You won't need to re-type captions and hashtags or search for the trending sound again. Talk about a time saver! I recently explained this new feature here.

  2. Send Drafted Content to Another Account for Review

Social media managers everywhere are going to LOVE this one! Once you create a reel in Instagram and save it to drafts, Instagram gives users the option to “send it to a friend” to review. When reviewing a friend can view everything from the reel with sound to the caption and hashtags.

  3. Carousel Posts Re-Gaining Popularity

Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri recently shared that carousel posts are gaining popularity again! This renewed interest is driven by the algorithm's ability to resurface your carousel multiple times for the same user. Initially, someone might see the first slide and scroll past it, but now, the algorithm can show the carousel again to that same user, starting with the second slide, increasing the chances of engagement.

  4. Swipe to a Profile Right from the Reels Tab

Users can now swipe left into a profile, right after viewing that profile’s reel on the reels tab. This feature will help foster more meaningful follows and conversions, minimizing the steps a user has to take to learn more about a brand.

  5. Adding photos to your link in bio

Instagram is making it so you no longer need Link.tree or any other third-party link page. Users now can customize their link in bio pages with photos! This is a nice touch for businesses who often send users to their link in bio.
